After much consideration, this year YRI has chosen to sponsor Dorie Miller Elementary during the Christmas holidays.
Our #GivingTuesday campaign funds will be used to purchase much needed items for the cold months coming this winter season. To help keep the kids warm and ward off winter colds, we are looking for items such as:
- Skull Caps
- And, small toys for Christmas!
If you would like to donate any of these items directly, pick-up or drop-off arrangements can be made by calling 210-781-5191.
YRI Currently Supports Dorie Miller Elementary through Communities in Schools!
We want our kids to be happy and walk with their head held high – the question is, how do we teach them that?
In an ever-changing, competitive, technologically advanced world, it doesn’t matter how much we love our children, we can’t give them self-esteem, self-confidence, or success in life. But what we can do is teach them to develop it in themselves!
- YRI uses The Adventures in Wisdom Life Coaching Program for Kids™ curriculum. Covering over 27 different topics, this fun, story-based program provides step-by-step tools to help kids learn how to handle the ups and downs of growing up; to think for themselves and make good decisions; and to go for their dreams and make them happen. Through this program, children develop a mindset for happiness, confidence, and success in their lives.
- Through the Adventures in Wisdom Success System for Learning and Taking Tests™, YRI helps kids develop a learning mindset, an effective homework routine and learn how to learn. Learning how to learn and learning how to perform under pressure doesn’t come naturally for most students. However, through mindset training and brain science, these are skills that kids can learn, so that they are confident and prepared on test day. Through this training, kids learn how to perform under pressure and do well on tests (both in school and in life, whether it’s sports try-outs, auditions, etc.)
- As certified facilitators of CATCH, Coordinated Approach To Child Health™, YRI teaches children the importance of choosing an environment of healthy food choices reinforced with physical activity. Using the GO SLOW WHOA categories of the CATCH program, we can help kids understand the importance of making better food choices and the impact those choices have on their bodies and minds.
